I am running for Indiana House District 48 as a progressive voice for the residents of northern Elkhart County. As a long-time advocate for community services and justice reform I see 2026 as the year for removing the entrenched Republican representation that has failed to serve the voters of Elkhart County. We are struggling with affordability. We struggle with the cost of groceries at our local store. We struggle under the fear of medical debt when we schedule an appointment at our doctors. We struggle with the shock each time we open our utility bills.
As a working father raising two daughters I understand this struggle and how difficult it has become to live on our wages – especially a little one who loves her karate classes. Unkept promises by Democrats and Republicans have left us barely living from paycheck to paycheck with ever rising costs and fewer services. Under those burdens our most vulnerable neighbors stumble, our young families falter and our senior citizens suffer. With all our communities across northern Elkhart County I am reaching up with you to make sure your life, your liberty and your pursuit of happiness is more than just a dream.

About Your Candidate
Marshall lives in Osceola with his fiancé and their two daughters. He works as a construction framer at a mobile home manufacturing plant. After working his long shifts, sometimes six days a week, Marshall is busy at home with the care of their newborn and 6-year old. One of the joys of his life is taking his daughter to museums where she can learn more about our local history and the wonderful diversity of our planet – that and she just loves dinosaurs almost as much as spending time with her dad.

Affordability in Housing Plan for Hoosiers
Indiana is our home, yet the path to home ownership has been taken away for many young and working families. It is time to restore sensibility and affordably back into housing market and out of the hands of the profit-driven developers. I will take our struggles to simply sustain our households to the State House. Send me to Indianapolis so I can get to work for you and your families. I will focus on the following:
- Establish Indiana funds and funding sources for increasing the availability of affordable homes
- Refocus community development on rehabilitation of existing vacant or deteriorating residential areas and get the teeth of large, corporate developers out of our important and historical agricultural lands
- Engage communities for local preservation, supportive housing and community ownership to maintain long-term affordability in the housing market
- Remove barriers that keep our young families from becoming first-time homeowners
- Make Housing First our model for ending homelessness in Indiana
- Fully fund and strengthen our local housing authorities

Focused on Neighborhoods and Not Corporate Data Centers
Our state’s precious farmland has an infestation of loud, water-stealing, power-sucking AI Data Centers that are creeping into Elkhart County. Those pests need to be exterminated from Indiana and I will fight to keep our neighborhoods clear of those corporate monstrosities of the tech-billionaire class. Our land should be for farms and families and not given away with tax-incentives and lucrative utility contracts what will leave our residents paying higher electricity rates and our farmer’s wells dry. I support an end to AI Data Centers in Indiana and the full restoration of our water and land to agricultural and conservation uses.
Healthcare is a Right for All Hoosiers
The Healthcare Industry and its corporate lobbyist have placed the burden of health plans on the back of employees. This leaves families with higher cost, higher deductibles and fewer choices of doctors. The vulnerably employed and unemployed lose access to preventative healthcare and have to pay inflated prices for urgent care. For a majority of Americans, the system is broken and it is time for the Hoosier State to lead the way in Healthcare for All. My Healthcare for All Hoosier Plan will reduce medical cost for families, will reduce the cost to city and towns that struggle to provide employee benefits, and remove the burden from the taxpayers of the high cost of healthcare for the underinsured.
Indiana is in a mental health crisis as specialized mental health services and addiction recovery programs have been cut over and over. As your representative I will push for more funding towards mental health and scale-up treatment options to get people on that pathway to a better, more productive life.

Quality Public Education for All Children
Our important public education system has been gutted by the bureaucrats in Indianapolis. Leaving our public-school systems here in Elkhart County begging for just the basic funds for teachers, custodians and bus drivers. The Arts and Sciences that lay the foundation for American prosperity through the development of creativity and critical thinking has been slashed. Healthy, fresh cooked meals that are essential for growing minds and bodies have been outsourced to prepackaged and over-processed options. We need to get our schools fully funded immediately to meet the needs of our children’s future.
I commit to working for advancement of all our public schools in their mission to reduce the financial burden on our teachers to provide a quality education in our classroom. I will work to establish equity between schools across different income areas with the goal of improving classroom readiness and learning conditions for all students, regardless of race, economic status, sex, gender expression or orientation.

Affordable and Accessible Quality Childcare and Pre-K
As a father I want my children to have better opportunities than I did. The key to getting our children started on that life journey is access to quality childcare. The rising cost of childcare in Indiana means that many families can not afford it, some even quitting their jobs because the cost for childcare is greater than what they make. Our working families need more choices and options in affordable, accessible childcare and I will be making that a priority in Indianapolis for all Hoosiers.

We have to do more for diversity and inclusion, especially in our classrooms. We have to do more to restore native cultures decimated by American imperialism. We have to end the criminalization of marijuana possession and reform our laws to support the right of adults to use responsibly for medical or personal purposes. We have a lot to do in Indiana, I am asking you to send this progressive voice to the State House to speak for you.
Increase Protections for four-legged Hoosiers
Our pets are beloved members of most households, from those that fetch, swim, fly or stare at us when we are five minutes late with dinner. Yet in some homes pets suffer mistreatment and abuse from lack of care. I will work to increase the penalties for such un-caring and neglect.
